WILLINGTON, Conn. — On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Connecticut State Police from Troop C – Tolland arrested Benjamin Slocum, 38, of Eastford, on an active arrest warrant stemming from a high-speed incident that occurred in May.
The investigation began on May 7, 2025, when a State Trooper observed a vehicle traveling at 96 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 74 in Willington. When the Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and hid in the parking lot of a nearby auto towing business in an effort to evade law enforcement.
An off-duty State Police Sergeant, traveling in the opposite direction, witnessed the maneuver and alerted the investigating Trooper. Surveillance footage from the towing business helped identify the vehicle’s registration. Further investigation led to Slocum, who later admitted to eluding the Trooper’s attempt to stop him.
Slocum was taken into custody at his residence and transported to Troop C, where he was processed and charged with the following:
- Reckless Driving (C.G.S. 14-222)
- Engaging Police in Pursuit (C.G.S. 14-223(b))
He was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Rockville Superior Court on July 23, 2025.
