Board Responsibilities
The Board of Directors is responsible for:
- Mission Oversight: Ensuring all operations and decisions align with NewsTalk New England’s nonprofit mission and public service values.
- Governance & Accountability: Upholding strong ethical standards, transparency, and organizational accountability.
- Financial Stewardship: Overseeing budgets, financial planning, fundraising, and responsible use of all resources.
- Strategic Guidance: Setting long-term goals, evaluating organizational performance, and advising on growth opportunities.
- Community Representation: Acting as ambassadors for NewsTalk New England in the community, cultivating relationships with donors, supporters, and community partners.
- Support for Leadership: Providing support and counsel to the President/CEO, editorial leaders, and volunteer teams.
Our Commitment to Independence
The Board operates independently of newsroom editorial decisions. While the Board oversees the organization as a whole, all editorial decisions are made by the newsroom leadership team based on established ethical standards and journalistic principles. This structure ensures both strong organizational oversight and full editorial independence.
