ENFIELD, Conn. — On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Detectives from the Central District Major Crimes Squad arrested Joel Caiza, 18, in connection with a crash on I-91 North in Enfield that left two Connecticut State Troopers injured.

The arrest followed an investigation into the collision, which occurred earlier this month. Caiza was taken into custody without incident and is facing multiple charges:

  • Reckless Driving (C.G.S. 14-222)
  • Traveling Too Fast for Conditions (C.G.S. 14-218a*)
  • Failure to Maintain Lane (C.G.S. 14-236)
  • Operating Without a License (C.G.S. 14-36a)

Caiza was held on a $100,000 bond, which he was unable to post. He remains in the custody of Connecticut State Police and is awaiting arraignment at Hartford Superior Court.
