The New England Revolution played their home opener at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, but unfortunately, they fell short with a 1-0 loss to Toronto FC. It was a tough match, and despite the team’s efforts, Lorenzo Insigne’s right-footed shot from the left side of the box to the top right corner proved to be the solo goal of the match for Toronto, leaving the Revolution disappointed.

DeJuan Jones played for 88 minutes, surpassing 10,000 career minutes played in MLS and registering a team-high seven recoveries and four clearances. Noel Buck made his 25th career MLS start, while Carles Gil registered his 125th start in MLS for New England.

Revolution Head Coach Caleb Porter expressed his disappointment with the result, especially for the team’s fans and supporters who were present at the stadium. “It’s tough when you have a great crowd and it’s your home opener, but you end up on the wrong end of a loss and a result that you didn’t want,” he said. “Our fans were great today, and it’s disappointing that they go home without joy. This game is all about results, and unfortunately, Toronto got a great result today.”

Despite the loss, Coach Porter was encouraged by the team’s performance, particularly in the second half. “There’s a lot of good in there, and we need to keep a perspective,” he said. “We need to stick to the process. This hurts, obviously. We didn’t get the result we wanted, so we’re very disappointed, but I think there’s a lot of good in how we played today.”
