One person is reportedly deceased after a truck crashed into a home in East Killingly, Connecticut late Thursday night, triggering a major emergency response and reports of a partial structural collapse.
The crash happened on Hartford Pike shortly before 11 PM when a truck slammed into the residence, leaving portions of the structure heavily damaged and prompting concerns for possible entrapment. Multiple fire departments and mutual aid crews from both Connecticut and Massachusetts responded to the scene as officials worked to stabilize the building. A regional fire task force was also activated due to the severity of the incident.
Initial reports indicate one fatality has been confirmed, though authorities have not yet stated whether the victim was an occupant of the vehicle or someone inside the home.
Emergency crews remained on scene for hours conducting rescue operations and investigating what led up to the crash. Hartford Pike was shut down in the area as heavy rescue equipment and emergency personnel flooded the scene.
