WASHINGTON, D.C. — On July 18, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth hosted Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz at the Pentagon to commend Israel’s military achievements during the recent 12-Day War and the decisive execution of Operation MIDNIGHT HAMMER.
Secretary Hegseth praised Israel’s swift and effective military response, emphasizing the nation’s resolve to lead in its own defense. He highlighted the operation as a turning point in regional security and credited Israel’s bold actions with setting the conditions for long-term stability.
The Secretary reaffirmed the United States’ unwavering support for Israel’s security and emphasized the Department of Defense’s commitment to ensuring Israel maintains its qualitative military edge. He reiterated that this partnership aligns with President Trump’s broader national security strategy centered on “Peace Through Strength.”
Both leaders discussed ongoing efforts to counter shared threats in the Middle East and agreed to deepen bilateral defense cooperation. They also expressed a shared commitment to pursuing peace and stability in the region through deterrence, strength, and sustained strategic coordination.
