DENVER, CO- The New York Yankees defeated the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, by a score of five runs to four at Coors Field. The Yankees had nine hits and improved their record to 32-20, while the Rockies nightmare continues as they drop to 9-44 on the season
Hitting for the Yanks was solid all around the team. Yankees catcher, J.C. Escarra recorded a double, two singles, and two RBI’s, going 3-4 on the day. Aaron Judge recorded a double, a single, and an RBI. Yanks shortstop Anthony Volpe tripled in the 2nd inning. Paul Goldsmitcht and Ben Rice were also able to put the bat on the ball as both players came up with base hits. As for pitching, Will Warren delivered seven strikeouts, and the bullpen also did their job with Mark Leiter Jr. and Devin Williams combining for five strikeouts and zero runs allowed.
Rockies’ Ezequiel Tovar, Hunter Goodman, Ryan McMahon, and Adael Amador all connected for singles on the day. Jordan Beck and Brenton Doyle both notched doubles into the outfield. Right fielder, Mickey Moniak, smashed a home run in the 9th inning to bring the Rockies within one run, however, the team was unable to capitalize. It was a poor pitching day for the Rockies, as Antonio Senzatela allowed six hits and four runs. Sentazela’s ERA is now an abysmal 6.50.
The Yanks will travel to Los Angeles to take on the Angels in a new three-game series on May 26th, 2025, with the first pitch at 9:38 p.m. The struggling Rockies will look to gain confidence with some wins in their new three-game series against the Chicago Cubs beginning on May 25th.
