Four Cuban regime officials have been accused of committing human rights violations by the State Department during the arbitrary detention of Luis Robles Elizástigui. Judges and prosecutors in Cuba work for the government and are a big factor when it comes to unfair arrests and convictions. They utilize fake legal processes against people who are advocating peacefully or speaking out for themselves. Individuals, including José Daniel Ferrer and Félix Navarro, were sent back to jail for made-up reasons thought up by regime officials.
Prosecutor Yanaisa Matos Legrá and judges Gladys Maria Padrón Canals, Maria Elena Fornari Conde, and Juan Sosa Orama of the People’s Provincial Court of Havana are the four Cuban regime officials who committed human rights violations in the conviction and sentencing of Luis Robles Elizástigui. As a result of their acts, they and their families are now unable to cross into the United States.
The Trump administration has been focused on holding Cuban regime officials accountable for such violations since his January 2025 inauguration and even imposed multiple sanctions on Cuban officials in President Trump’s first term.
