The Boston Celtics were in Philadelphia, PA to face off against the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. The top two teams in the Eastern Conference were tied at an 8-2 record coming into the game.
With both Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis out for Boston, it was Derrick White and Jayson Tatum who stepped up in big ways to get a 117-107 win in Philadelphia. Tatum led the way with 29 points while White scored 27, 14 of which came in the fourth.
The Celtics used strong first and third quarters to pull away from the then Eastern Conference leaders, outscoring them 37-22 and 26-17 in those quarters respectively. The Sixers outscored the C’s 36-20 in the second quarter, but it wasn’t enough.
The Celtics will travel north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
