New England Revolution Fall To The New York Red Bulls 2-1

Saturday night defender Brandon Bye started in place of midfielder Carles Gil who remained in Boston with his wife Maria, who gave birth to the couple’s first child on Saturday.

The New England Revolution fell to the New York Red Bulls 2-1, at Red Bull Arena. After a scoreless first half, midfielder Tommy McNamara netted his fourth goal of the season in the 53rd minute, propelling the Revolution to a 1-0 lead with a right-footed shot from the center of the box. The Red Bulls netted a goal in the 58th minute to make it 1-1, and then netted a goal in the 78th minute to make it 2-1.

Now while Carles Gil was not with the team, his brother, midfielder Nacho Gil, the club’s newest addition, registered his Revolution debut with a seven-minute performance off the bench.

The New England Revolution will play game two of their two-game road trip on Tuesday night, when the Revolution visit Houston Dynamo FC at PNC Stadium. Tuesday’s match kicks off at 8:30 p.m. ET.
