WORCESTER, Mass. — A crash on Belmont Street early Sunday morning turned into a drug trafficking investigation after Worcester Police officers found individually wrapped baggies of drugs and a large amount of cash inside a bag belonging to the motorcycle operator involved in the collision.
Officers were dispatched to Belmont Street at approximately 3:03 a.m. on October 4 for a reported crash. When they arrived, they found a vehicle with significant front-end damage and determined that a motorcycle had also been involved.
As officers worked to identify the operator of the motorcycle, they located a bag that EMS personnel had cut off of him. Officers opened the bag while attempting to locate identification and found a large plastic bag containing individually wrapped baggies of drugs along with a large amount of cash.
The motorcycle operator was identified as 31-year-old Justin Lacombe. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment following the crash.
Officers also determined that Lacombe had a suspended license and three outstanding warrants. He was charged with trafficking heroin and trafficking fentanyl, along with the outstanding warrants.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. The charges against Lacombe are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
