UXBRIDGE, Mass. — A 15-year-old Uxbridge High School student has died after being ejected from a car that crashed into a utility pole late Saturday night, leaving police investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash on Chocolog Road.
Uxbridge police reported at 11:21 p.m. Saturday that the 680 block of Chocolog Road would remain closed for an extended period because of a serious motor vehicle crash. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where a Ford Focus carrying three people had struck a utility pole and left the roadway.
Police confirmed Sunday morning that one of the three occupants, a 15-year-old student at Uxbridge High School, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The teenager was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the name of the student who died. Police also have not identified the other two people who were inside the Ford Focus, and no information was released on whether either of them was injured.
The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation. Police have not released additional information about what happened before the Ford Focus struck the utility pole and left the roadway.
Investigators are now asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Uxbridge Police Department at 508-278-7755. Police said they will provide additional information “when it is appropriate.”
The investigation remains ongoing as Uxbridge police work to determine what led to the late-night crash that claimed the life of the 15-year-old high school student.
