WORCESTER, Mass. — A male suspect was arrested early Saturday morning following a foot pursuit and investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.

According to radio transmissions, troopers were alerted to a fight around the 100 block of Shrewsbury Street at approximately 1:48 a.m. Saturday. When troopers attempted to stop a male believed to be involved, the suspect fled on foot, prompting a pursuit through the area.

During the chase, the suspect discarded a firearm near a dumpster before continuing toward the Washington Square rotary. Troopers ultimately lost sight of the suspect, but the firearm was recovered at the scene.

A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued for a Hispanic male wearing gray sweatpants stained with blood, a black jacket, and Timberland boots. Detectives from the Worcester Police Department initially responded to assist, but later cleared the scene as state police assumed control of the investigation.

While following up on the case, troopers identified a possible residence connected to the suspect in the 700 block of Grove Street and responded to investigate. The suspect was not located at the home at that time.

Later in the morning, authorities received a tip reporting a man matching the suspect’s description near the residence. Troopers returned to the area and confirmed the individual was the suspect, placing him under arrest at approximately 4:30 a.m.
