Hartford, Conn. — A violent scene unfolded Sunday night on Washington Street, ending in a murder charge and a standoff with police.
Officers were called for a wellness check on a woman reportedly unconscious and not breathing. When they arrived, a man inside refused to cooperate and blocked their access. Authorities were forced to enter the apartment, where they found the victim suffering from severe head trauma and an aggressive male resisting them.
The victim, later identified as 76-year-old Linda Anthony, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Hartford Police Detention Facility, held on a million-dollar bond.
Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions immediately took over the investigation, combing the apartment for evidence and piecing together the events leading up to Anthony’s death.
Authorities are warning anyone with information about the incident to come forward, as the case remains under active investigation. This marks yet another tragic reminder of how quickly domestic situations can turn deadly.
