Boston, MA – A Boston man has been arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Central on Friday after being accused of stealing merchandise from several Back Bay stores in Nov.

40-year-old Peter Cutelis is facing multiple charges, including four counts of larceny over $1,200, Possession of Controlled Substances, and being classified as a habitual offender.

Judge Joseph Griffin set bail at $2,500 far each charge. Cutelis is also being held without bail on a separate fugitive from justice case from Brentwood, New Hampshire. He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 6 for a probable cause hearing.

Police reports say:

  • Nov. 12 – Cutelis allegedly stole $1,556.59 in merchandise from Lululemon on Newbury Street. Officers recovered the items at the time of the arrest and found controlled substances on his person.
  • Nov. 16 & 18 – Two thefts occurred at Ralph Lauren on Newbury Street, with stolen items totaling $5,862. Surveillance footage helped authorities identify Cutelis.
  • Nov 21. – Cutelis was accused of stealing $2,157 in merchandise from Lululemon at the Prudential Center. A GPS tracking device helped police locate him at the Copley MBTA station, and the stolen items were recovered.

Cutelis has a long history of theft and trespassing offenses dating back to 2021. He is currently presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden emphasized the effect that repeat offenders can have on local retail businesses. He also highlighted the Safe Shopping Initiative, launched in 2024 in partnership with Boston Police and area retailers, to enhance safety and reduce theft in stores.
