The arrest relates to allegations of improper use of funds from the Glens Falls Fire Department Union Account.

The individual, identified as Richard G. Stafford, a captain with the department, is accused of writing and cashing two union checks and using the money for personal reasons. At the time, Stafford served as the union secretary, giving him access to the account.
