A’ja Wilson just slammed the door on the MVP conversation — again.
The Las Vegas Aces star was crowned the 2025 Kia WNBA Most Valuable Player, her record-breaking fourth MVP award and second straight, the league announced Monday. Wilson now stands alone at the top, surpassing legends Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, and Lauren Jackson, who each won three.
Wilson dominated the vote, snagging 51 of 72 first-place ballots and finishing with 657 points. Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier (534) was a distant second, Phoenix’s Alyssa Thomas (391) landed third, Atlanta’s Allisha Gray (180) grabbed fourth, and Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell (93) rounded out the top five.
At 28 and in her eighth season, Wilson is rewriting the record books. She averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 boards, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.6 steals — leading the league in scoring for the second year in a row and blocks for the fifth time. She set a single-season record with 13 games of 30-plus points, racked up 21 double-doubles, and dragged Vegas from a mediocre 11-11 start to a 19-3 post-break surge that secured the No. 2 playoff seed.
Her hot hand during the Aces’ franchise-record 16-game winning streak was absurd: 26.1 points, 12 rebounds, and nearly 60% from deep.
Wilson, now a seven-time All-Star, gets $15,450 and a Tiffany & Co. trophy for the honor — but it’s clear the hardware she really wants is another championship ring. The Aces tip off their semifinal series against the Indiana Fever today at 3 p.m. on ABC.
