Springfield, MA — On Monday, August 11, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Springfield Police officers arrested two juveniles in connection with a stolen vehicle that crashed into several vehicles.
A few minutes earlier, officers observed a vehicle reported stolen out of Agawam traveling on State Street near Walnut Street. At a red light, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the driver, later identified as a 14-year-old male, accelerated into the cruiser. In an attempt to evade police, the driver crashed into another vehicle before driving onto the sidewalk and popping two tires. The suspect continued driving before colliding with an unoccupied parked car on the 300 block of Wilbraham Road. No injuries were reported in the three collisions.
All five occupants of the stolen car fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, officers arrested the driver on Middlesex Street and one passenger, also a 14-year-old male, on Bristol Street.
Due to their ages, the names, booking photos, and specific charges of the suspects will not be released.
