Despite it being the middle of April, heavy snow blanketed parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire on Saturday morning, creating a winter wonderland that postponed baseball games in Worcester and Portland, Maine.
In Worcester, where the WooSox were set to host the Columbus Clippers at Polar Park, the scene was a picturesque, yet unexpected, winter backdrop. With four inches of fresh snow covering the field, the WooSox quickly deemed the afternoon game a “snow-out,” announcing just after 9:00 AM that the matchup would be postponed. Plans for a rescheduled game will be communicated to fans at a later time.
For those with tickets to the canceled game, there’s good news: they can exchange them for any WooSox home game in 2025 at the same or lower price level. Importantly, fans are not required to make exchanges on the day of the postponement.
Meanwhile, in Portland, Maine, at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field, the Portland Sea Dogs similarly announced the postponement of their Saturday afternoon game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, originally scheduled for 1:00 PM. This contest will now be made up as a single-admission doubleheader set for Sunday, April 13th, at 1:00 PM.
Fans holding tickets for the postponed game can also exchange them for tickets of equal or lesser value to any remaining Sea Dogs home game in 2025, subject to availability.
Back at Polar Park in Worcester’s vibrant Canal District, the WooSox have also decided to reschedule the anticipated UniBank Women in Sports festivities, which include a noon luncheon featuring acclaimed Ballpark Designer Janet Marie Smith. The event will also encompass interactive sessions with several remarkable women from the WooSox, who have made their mark as captains of collegiate sports teams. The rescheduling of this event will be announced for later this spring, promising an exciting celebration of women in sports.
