In Washington, D.C., Lt. Peter Sheldon of the Metropolitan Police Department has resigned, while Sgt. Frantz Fulcher and three officers—Dorrie Smith-Cleere, Bernadette Richardson, and Thomas Krmenec—are currently under investigation for time theft in the Fifth District’s administrative office.

MPD spokesperson Tom Lynch confirmed Sheldon’s retirement. He began his career with the department in 1998 and was earning an annual salary of $147,961.

The ongoing investigation involves allegations that Sgt. Fulcher, along with the three officers, manipulated their own overtime hours.

Fulcher has been with the MPD since April 2006 and earns $119,964 annually.

Smith-Cleere and Krmenec, who both joined the department in early 2001 and 2004, respectively, each make $112,727

Richardson, a senior officer who was re-hired after retirement, started with MPD in January 2020 and earns $84,121 per year. Lynch has stated that due to the ongoing nature of the internal inquiry, further details are not available at this time.
