The City of New New Bedford, Massachusetts, is once again this holiday season offering free parking for two hours at the Elm Street Garage and the Zeiterion Garage Downtown.
The city says there is also free two-hour parking at meters along Acushnet Avenue.
The New Bedford Holiday Parking Program, the City, said, “Is designed to encourage shopping, dining, and retail activity in the City’s Downtown and North End business districts during the month of December.”
The holiday parking program also has a ticket forgiveness for holiday shoppers and diners. The City said anyone who receives a parking ticket for an expired meter downtown can be forgiven by presenting a same-day sales receipt for at least $10 from a downtown merchant or restaurant. Receipts must be presented or mailed to the Traffic Commission Office in the Elm Street Garage within three weeks (21 days) of receiving the ticket.
The city also said that drivers in the North End along Acushnet Avenue, ticketed for expired meters over the free two hours, can have their tickets forgiven in the same way.
