AUBURN, Mass. — A widespread power outage is affecting much of Auburn, knocking out electricity to homes and businesses while creating potentially dangerous conditions along major roadways and intersections.
The outage is affecting most major roadways and intersections across town. Drivers are being urged to use extreme caution while traveling through Auburn as officials work to manage conditions created by the loss of power.
National Grid has been notified of the outage and is working to restore electrical service. No estimated restoration time was provided in the information released.
Officials are also asking residents not to overwhelm emergency dispatchers with calls seeking information about the outage. Dispatch should be contacted only when there is an actual emergency.
Motorists traveling through affected areas should remain alert and use extreme caution at intersections impacted by the outage. Homes and businesses across Auburn remain affected as National Grid works to rectify the situation.
