MONKTON, Vt. — A 39-year-old Burlington woman is facing an aggravated assault charge after a 72-year-old man was injured during an incident early Saturday morning in Monkton.
Troopers from the New Haven Barracks were called to Bristol Road at approximately 4:27 a.m. following a report of an assault involving two people.
The investigation determined that Meribeth A. Hammond assaulted Michael D. Lyons, 72, of Monkton, resulting in injury.
Hammond was arrested and transported to the New Haven Barracks for processing. She was issued a criminal citation on a charge of aggravated assault.
Hammond was lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility on $500 bail.
She is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division, at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
