The Patriots Sunday traveled to Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY, for a matchup with the Bills. The last time these two teams met was at Gillette Stadium on October 22, and the Patriots beat Buffalo 29-25. New England on Sunday was looking for a series sweep of the Bills for the first time since the 2019 season, but unfortunately, they lost 21-27.
Jalen Reagor became the fourth Patriots player in team history on Sunday to return the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Reagors 98-yard kickoff return put New England out front 7-0 to start the game. Allen Carter was the first Patriots player to return the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Carter’s opening kickoff return on December 21, 1975, was 99 yards against Baltimore.
Bailey Zappe recorded his first career rushing touchdown with a 17-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Ezekiel Elliott, with a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter, recorded the second touchdown of the game for the Patriots, his third rushing touchdown this season, and the 71st career rushing touchdown.
Jahlani Tavia and Kyle Dugger both registered a ten-tackle game on Sunday.
Next up for the Patriots is their final game of the season, next Sunday, January 7, at home at Gillette Stadium against the Jets.
