Friday night at TD Garden, the Celtics were back on the court for the second straight night and grabbed a 120-118 win over Toronto.
Tonight, the C’s didn’t have Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis, or Al Horford, who led the Cs to their overtime win Thursday night against Detroit. But Jaylen Brown, who on Christmas took a knee to his back during Boston’s win against the Los Angeles Lakers, was back Friday night and netted 31 points for his third game this season with 30 or more points. Brown finished the night with one offensive rebound, nine defensive rebounds, and six dimes.
Derrick White tonight netted 21 points and finished the night with one offensive rebound, four defensive rebounds, seven dimes, and three thefts.
Luke Kornet netted 20 points while Jrue Holiday netted 15 points, and Sam Hauser netted nine points.
The C’s bench combined put 24 points on the board.
With Friday night’s win, Boston has now won five straight and have won nine of their last ten. Overall, the C’s are 25-6 and are first in the Eastern Conference.
Next up for Boston is a two game road trip with their first stop at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, TX, for a meeting with the Spurs.
The Celtics swept the 2022-23 season series against the Spurs after a 137-93 win on March 26, 2023, at TD Garden. The C’s 44-point margin was the largest win differential in the 2022-23 season, and San Antonio’s 93 points were tied for the second-lowest score by an opponent. Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring for the 41 points and posted his third career 40-point double-double with 13 rebounds.
Leaving San Antonio, the C’s will head to the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, OK for a matchup with the Thunder.
