Alyssa Thomas capped off a fantastic 2023 season earning a WNBA Peak Performance Honor for leading the league in rebounds per game.
The WNBA presents Peak Performance awards to the leader in points, rebounds, and assists per game each season.
This is the first time Thomas has earned a Peak Performance honor in her ten year career.
The veteran forward finished the regular season averaging a league and career-best 9.9 rebounds per game.
Over 40 contests, she finished the season with 394 total rebounds, tallying 24 games with 10+ rebounds and leading Connecticut in rebounding in 29 games.
She set a new career high in rebounds in her 21-point, 20-rebound and 12-assist triple-double performance against Minnesota on August 1.
Thomas also became the franchise’s all-time leader in rebounds, passing Taj McWilliams-Franklin (1,814) on June 25 versus Chicago and eclipsed 2,000 career rebounds on August 24 against New York.
Thomas joins Jonquel Jones (2017, 2019, 2021) and Tina Charles (2010, 2011, 2012) as the only three players in Connecticut Sun franchise history to take home the WNBA Peak Performer in rebounds honor.
This also comes in a season where Thomas had 28 Double-Doubles and 6 Triple-Doubles which were both records for most in a season.
Thomas also made history becoming the WNBA player to lead the league in total assists and total rebounds.
Thomas averaged 15.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 7.9 assists in what could possibly be a MVP Season.
