2023 New England Football League Preview

By Stephen Ur

The New England Football League kicks off their 2023 season this weekend with four matchups, including two new teams hosting games and a matchup between the league’s two champions from 2022.

The Middleboro Cobras and Glens Falls Green Jackets, both new teams in the league for the 2023 season, will each host home games in Week 1. Glens Falls will host the Single A Division runner-up from 2022 in the Vermont Ravens and Middleboro will host the Worcester Wildcats.

The Mass Warriors and Western Mass Blitzin Bears, who won the then Maritime Conference and North Atlantic Division Championship in 2022 respectively, will face off against one another in a matchup between the two champions from last year. That game will be played in the Springfield, MA area with the Blitzin Bears as the home team.

The Bombers are one of six teams returning from 2022, joining the Warriors, Blitzin Bears, Ravens, Worcester Wildcats, Connecticut Reapers and Rhode Island Riptide. The Rhode Island Raptors joined the East Coast Football League and the Boston Chargers have opted out of playing this summer after playing the Spring season in the Independent Football Association and the East Coast Football League.

The season will run through the summer and the postseason is set to begin in September.
