The Worcester Red Sox’s New Kids On The Block

The Worcester Red Soxs have had a couple of new faces in the clubhouse between injuries and trades with a few players that are experiencing Worcester for the first time.
The four new faces I got a chance to speak to were Tayler Scott, Max Ferguson, Corey Rosier, and Kyle Barraclough.
Tayler Scott came to Worcester via trade as the Boston Red Sox traded for Scott who was previously with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Scott has 11 years of Major and Minor League experience.
“It’s been a bit overwhelming because I’ve been traveling all day and meeting new faces getting used to everybody has been an experience.”
One of the other new kids on the block doesn’t have as much experience like Scott. Max Ferguson has spent two years in single A coming from the Greenville Drive to Worcester. Ferguson went straight past the double A Portland Sea Dogs coming to Worcester.
“It’s cool to be here and I’ve heard it’s a great city.” Ferguson remarked
“Glad that my efforts got me here even though it’s because we need bodies (referring to the Woo Sox’s string of injuries.) but just glad to be here.”
Ferguson before being in the Red Sox’s system was a Padre and was traded to Boston along with Corey Rozier who is also a new face in Worcester.
Corey Rosier came to Worcester after being called up from the Double A Portland Sea Dogs. Rosier made a brief appearance on the 22nd and got the start on the 23rd.
Rosier would get a hit in his performance telling me postgame “Was anxious in the first couple at bats but to get that first hit was sort of like having some weight lifted off my shoulders.”
Rosier also told me “I’m excited to be here (in Worcester) this is actually the first time I’ve moved in season, so I’ve just emphasized staying focused.”
The final new face was signed as a free agent on June 20th and got his first start June 21st. Kyle Barraclough in his first start threw 6 innings and only allowed one hit with no runs.
“It’s huge to have a veteran guy that the younger guys can pick his brain and in his first start he was awesome getting ahead in the count.” Woo Sox’s manager Chad Tracy said.
Barraclough has 11 years of experience with Major and Minor League Experience. Taylor Scott who has similar experience actually knows Barraclough.
Manager Chad Tracy also spoke on the many new faces.
“Due to the many moves it’s been hard to keep track of the locker room. We’re probably on pace to shatter the record for most people used in one season because of team needs in both the bigs and here.”
Even if everyone has to get name tags in the locker room one thing for certain is that the Woo Soxs and Worcester give nothing but a warm welcome to the new kids on the block.
