Red Sox Defeat Rays To Get Back In The Win Column

By DJ Harding

The Boston Red Sox started Spring Training going unbeaten in their first 14 games beating 12 MLB Teams plus Northeastern and Puerto Rico.

Since then Boston has gone winless in their last six games once having the best record in the league, the Red Sox are now fighting to keep their lead in the Grapefruit League as their recent woes have now tied them with the St.Louis Cardinals.

The Tampa Bay Rays batted first and didn’t score a run. Unlike Tampa Bay, Boston went on to score three runs in the bottom of the first.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning Rob Refsnyder hit a bases clearing double. From there the Red Sox were rolling for the rest of the night.

Adam Duvall would hit a home run in the bottom of the third to extend the lead to 4-0. Tampa Bay would score their only run of the game in the top of the fourth when Rene Pinto scored off of a Daniel Robertson double.

Boston would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth and three runs in the seventh.

The Red Sox would go on to win 9-1 and give pitcher Corey Kluber the win. Kluber has also been named the Opening Day starter.

Boston improves to 10-5-4 which is tied for the best record in the Grapefruit League as the Cardinals also won their matchup today.

The Red Sox will continue Spring Training on Friday when they play the Atlanta Braves.
