SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Police are investigating an overnight shooting after a ShotSpotter activation detected multiple rounds of gunfire in Springfield.
Just after 2:30 a.m., ShotSpotter alerted officers to approximately 14 rounds fired in the area of Marlborough Street.
Shortly afterward, two gunshot victims were located in the area of Collins Street and Logan Street.
According to preliminary information, one victim suffered a gunshot wound to the back, while the second victim was shot in the arm. Both victims are receiving medical attention.
The Springfield Police Department and Massachusetts State Police are on scene conducting the investigation. AMR ambulances are responding to provide emergency medical care and transport.
No information has been released regarding the victims’ conditions, any possible suspects, or whether any arrests have been made.
