Department of Defense Identifies Airman Who Died At Nigerien Air Base

The Department of Defense confirmed today that Staff Sergeant Dennis F. Melton, 27, of Waverly, Tennessee died February 18 in a non-combat related incident at the Nigerien Air Base 101 in Niamey, Niger.

In a statement that Department of Defense said “The incident is under investigation.”

Staff Sergeant Melton was assigned to the 20th Security Forces Squadron, Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.
