During a meeting in Vilnius with Estonian Minister of Defense Kalle Laanet, Latvian Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks, and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III discussed Russia’s military buildup in and around Ukraine, including in Belarus.
The Department of Defense said “Secretary Austin reassured the Ministers of the United States’ commitment to deterrence and defense on NATO’s Eastern Flank.”
“The leaders shared concern over the deployment of Russian military forces in Belarus and agreed that Allied unity is stronger than ever,” said Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby.
