Suspect Fatally Shot In Shootout With Seekonk Police

This morning at about 6:41 am, officers with the Seekonk PD responded to an alarm call at a business on route 6.

At about 6:46 am, officers arrived on scene and observed that the business had been broken into.

The suspect was seen leaving the area on foot however he eventually was located in the parking lot of another business on route 6.

The suspect fled from officers in a black Honda, east on Route 6. At the intersection of School Street and Route 6, the suspect lost control of the vehicle, struck a curb and rolled the vehicle onto its passenger side off the roadway.  

As officers arrived at the crash scene the suspect opened fire on them with a 7.62 millimeter AK-47 Model rifle.  Officers returned fire and after this exchange of gunfire, officers took up a defensive position and summonsed the regional SWAT team. 

After determining that the suspect was no longer a threat, emergency responders made access to the suspect’s vehicle and he was determined to be deceased at the scene.
