NEW YORK — Five people were wounded during a stabbing incident inside Penn Station on Sunday evening before the suspect was taken into custody by Amtrak Police, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

According to sources, the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on June 7 inside Penn Station near 33rd Street and 8th Avenue.

Sources familiar with the case said a male suspect allegedly attacked several people with a sharp object before law enforcement officers intervened.

According to those sources, police ultimately tackled the suspect to the floor and took him into custody.

The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
