WooSox Take Series Over Columbus Clippers With 8-2 Win

The Worcester Red Sox and Columbus Clippers played in the final game of the six-game series at Polar Park in Worcsster, MA on Sunday afternoon. The WooSox had taken three of the first five games, but Columbus came away with a 7-0 victory on Saturday night, so they were looking to even the series in the end.
Payton Tolle (1-0, 4.50 ERA) got the start for the WooSox in this game. Despite giving up a two-out double in the top of the first, he was able to get out of the inning without giving up a run.
Worcester struck first in thee bottom of the second inning as Allan Castro knocked a two-run homer into center field.
With two outs in the bottom of the third, Castro would hit his second home run of the game, a grand slam to right field, extending the WooSox lead to 6-0.
Down 8-0, Columbus would get on the board for the first time in the top of the seventh as Kody Huff hit a solo shot into left field, making the score 8-1. Columbus would load the bases in the top of the eighth, but Huff struck out looking to end the inning.
Devin Sweet came in to pitch and would come away with the save for the 8-2 victory. Worcester will head on the road for series in Nashville before returning home to Polar Park on Tuesday, April 21.
