New York — NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue has named Christopher G. Wilson, MSN, RN, CNML, CENP, NEA-BC, FACHE as its new Chief Nursing Officer. In his role, Wilson will oversee the strategic, operational, and professional aspects of nursing practice across the hospital, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and equitable patient care. He joins Bellevue after serving as Chief Nursing Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, where he led initiatives to improve nursing practice, patient outcomes, and hospital operations.
Bellevue Hospital CEO Eric Wei praised Wilson’s appointment, highlighting his record of advancing quality, workforce stability, and patient care excellence at Metropolitan. Natalia Cineas, Chief Nurse Executive and Senior Vice President at NYC Health + Hospitals, described Wilson as an accomplished leader with deep institutional knowledge and a commitment to the communities served by the system.
Wilson said he is honored to join Bellevue Hospital and looks forward to supporting the hospital’s nurses and care teams while advancing equity, innovation, and compassionate patient care. At Metropolitan, Wilson managed nursing and patient care services across multiple departments, including advanced practice nursing, radiology, laboratory, social services, respiratory care, behavioral health, creative arts therapy, and pastoral care. He also contributed to behavioral health regulatory improvements.
During his tenure, Metropolitan Hospital received numerous national awards, including Gold Beacon Awards from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses for its neonatal and adult Intensive Care Units, the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award for the Emergency Department, and multiple designations recognizing excellence in infant care, surgical services, and workplace quality. Metropolitan became the first organization globally to achieve Pathway to Excellence with Distinction.
Wilson holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Nurse Executive Advanced Board Certification and brings extensive clinical, operational, and strategic experience to Bellevue as the hospital continues its commitment to providing high-quality care to all patients.
