In every city, some officers simply do the job, and then there are officers who leave a lasting impact on the people and communities they serve.
Worcester Police Department Officer Tim Foley was one of those Officers.
Throughout his career, Officer Foley has built a reputation for professionalism, compassion, and courage, whether working details at a local shelter. In environments where tensions can run high and situations can change in seconds, Officer Foley has consistently shown the ability to remain calm, respectful, and focused on protecting others.
In an environment where tensions can often run high, Officer Foley has built a reputation for staying calm, treating people fairly, and helping to de-escalate difficult situations. Shelter staff, along with security, would say clients respect him because he speaks to people with dignity while still maintaining safety and order.
During a time when shelter resources were low, Officer Foley stepped into the kitchen to help cook a meal for the clients of the shelter and even paid out of pocket. Staff and security say his compassion and willingness to help are never going to go unnoticed.
Beyond the shelter, Foley has also spent countless long winter hours helping plow through snowstorms to keep the community safe. While many are home during dangerous winter weather, officers like Foley are still out working long shifts to help others.
Many also remember Officer Foley’s heroic actions during the 2021 Chilmark Street fire, where he and another officer rushed into a burning building to rescue an elderly woman trapped inside.
From helping feed people in need to risking his life to save others, Officer Foley represents the very best of public service in Worcester, providing that compassion, courage, and community still matter.
Thank you, Officer Foley, for your continued dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the city and its citizens.
