A “do not drive” warning by FCA US applies to all Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles with unrepaired Takata air bag recalls. If you own one of these vehicles, it is advised to not drive the vehicle until the repair to the airbag has been completed. Repairs for the recall are free of charge at the manufacturer’s dealership.
FCA claims approximately 225,000 U.S. vehicles have the issue. Over 6.6 million air bag inflators in FCA vehicles have been replaced to present-day.
The makes and models listed below have open Takata recalls and should not be driven until fixed:
- 2003–2010 Dodge Ram (15V312, 15V313, 16V352, 16V947, 18V021, 19V018)
- 2004–2009 Dodge Durango (15V313, 16V352, 16V947, 18V021)
- 2005–2011 Dodge Dakota (15V313, 16V352, 18V021, 19V018)
- 2005–2008 Dodge Magnum (15V313, 16V352)
- 2006–2015 Dodge Charger (15V313, 16V352, 18V021, 19V018)

NHTSA is urging all vehicle owners to visit NHTSA.gov/Recalls as soon as possible to see if their vehicle contains the open Takata air bag recall. If so, owners should contact their dealership to schedule a free repair and avoid driving the vehicle until then. Owners can call FCA’s customer service hotline at 833-585-0144.
The issue is very widespread, with over 67 million Takata air bags being defective. There have been 28 confirmed deaths in the U.S. due to a defective Takata airbag that exploded.
Furthermore, about 400 people in the U.S. have reported injuries from exploding Takata air bag inflators. Even minor crashes can trigger exploding Takata airbags that can result in serious injury. Older model year vehicles are more prone to failure.
