WASHINGTON — Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met Wednesday with Željko Komšić, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to reaffirm U.S. support for the country’s political stability and economic prosperity.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed advancing shared economic priorities, including the Southern Interconnection gas pipeline project. Officials said the project is expected to strengthen Bosnia and Herzegovina’s energy security while providing access to U.S. natural gas.
The discussions reflect ongoing U.S. engagement in the Western Balkans, with a focus on energy infrastructure and economic development as part of broader efforts to support stability in the region. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to ensure that infrastructure projects benefit Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economy and help integrate the country into regional energy markets.
