KNOX, Maine — A 40-year-old woman was shot at her home Thursday afternoon after three masked men arrived in a gold Jeep Cherokee and opened fire, according to Maine State Police.

Troopers responded to 1580 Bailey Road around 4:25 p.m. and learned the victim, identified as Astin Elwell of Knox, had already been driven to Waldo General Hospital. She was later transferred to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the suspects — all wearing ski masks — fled immediately after the shooting. Troopers later located a vehicle of interest behind a nearby residence, which was seized for evidence.

Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no known threat to the public.
