The Women’s Pro Baseball League [WPBL] have announced their first four teams ahead of the inaugural season coming Spring 2026, and Boston has been selected as one of those cities.
The other three cities joining Boston are New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The WPBL is the first female-specific baseball league since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League disbanded in 1954.
“Each of these cities are storied sports cities,” WPBL founder Justine Siegal said in a statement, “and we can’t wait to connect with the fans who live there and baseball fans across the country.” Siegel became the first female to coach for an MLB team when she joined the then Oakland Athletics in 2015.
While Boston will have a team in this new league, they are not guaranteed to host games as of now. The league will play their inaugural season at a neutral site, which will be announced at a later date.
