A Maine man flying up I-95 at 119 mph learned the hard way that the New Hampshire State Police don’t take Sundays off.

In a three-hour crackdown this weekend, troopers watching from the sky zeroed in on speeders tearing through Hampton Falls and Hampton. Thirty-six violations were spotted from above, including 20 drivers pushing 90 mph or more — one of them, Jason K. Harvey, 48, of Hampden, Maine, apparently testing how fast his car could go before he got caught.

At 7:19 a.m., a State Police aircraft clocked Harvey multiple times, topping out at 119 mph northbound. Troopers on the ground moved in fast, and Trooper Lauren Hervieux pulled him over after a brief pursuit. What began as a speeding stop quickly escalated when Harvey showed signs of being under the influence.

Troopers say Harvey’s roadside behavior led to his arrest on a laundry list of charges: aggravated driving while intoxicated — 30 mph or more over the limit, DUI third offense, driving with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08%, reckless operation, and open container. He’s due in Hampton District Court on October 31 and is cooling off at the Rockingham County House of Corrections in the meantime.

The crackdown is part of a broader effort by the NHSP’s Special Enforcement Unit and Troop A to rein in reckless driving on one of New England’s busiest corridors. And the stakes are about to get higher — starting January 1, 2026, anyone clocked at 100 mph or faster faces a $930 fine and a 90-day license suspension for a first offense.
