Worcester Police say two men are facing trafficking charges after officers witnessed a drug deal on Chandler Street last week.
According to police, at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, members of the Neighborhood Response Team saw what appeared to be a drug transaction. The two suspects were later tracked down near Main Street and Ionic Avenue.
When officers approached, one of the men — identified as 21-year-old Adonny Aviles — took off running but was quickly caught and placed in handcuffs. Police said a large amount of crack cocaine was found on him. The second suspect, 55-year-old Jose Diaz, was seen tossing drugs underneath a parked car. Officers recovered the stash, which weighed 18.5 grams — enough to meet the threshold for trafficking.
Both Aviles and Diaz are charged with trafficking in Class B drugs (18–36 grams), possession with intent to distribute Class B drugs (subsequent offense), and conspiracy to violate controlled substance laws.
The man who allegedly bought the drugs was also stopped. Police said he had a baggie of crack cocaine and was issued a summons to court.
