BOSTON — A 53-year-old Dominican national with a prior criminal history involving weapons and drug offenses has been federally charged with unlawfully reentering the United States following a prior deportation.

Antonio Gonzales was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on May 7, 2025, as part of a targeted immigration enforcement operation conducted by the ICE Boston field office.

According to officials, Gonzales was previously removed from the United States to the Dominican Republic on September 15, 2004. His criminal history includes a conviction for criminal possession of a weapon in March 1994 and another for criminal possession of a controlled substance in November 2000. Authorities allege that Gonzales reentered the U.S. unlawfully sometime after his 2004 removal.

A federal grand jury has since indicted Gonzales on a charge of unlawful reentry after deportation, a violation of federal immigration law.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. In addition to any criminal penalties imposed, Gonzales would also be subject to removal from the United States upon completion of his sentence.
