In their second game of the season, the New England Revolution lost at home to the Columbus Crew at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA.

Ilay Feingold received a yellow card in his second MLS match within the first ten minutes. In the 51st minute, Jacen Russell-Rowe scored a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner for his second goal and the team’s fifth of the new campaign. Mohamed Farsi assisted the goal. Ten minutes later, Russell-Rowe was subbed off due to injury. The final score was 1-0 to Columbus Crew, with their second win of the season, continuing their momentum from their last 4-2 win against Chicago Fire FC.

Head Coach Caleb Porter was asked about the attackers’ performance after the match, and he replied, “It’s a tight game, so when you make the game tight, obviously, if you make it a real open game, you create more chances, but they [Columbus] create a lot more chances. So, we made it a very tight defensive game. So, that’s a part of it. Do we need to create more chances? Yes, for sure. But we made this game a tight game, and we made it a game where we were going to hopefully get a clean sheet and win 1-0. I thought, again, if you look at the first half, that we executed really well. We just have to finish the details of the few chances we had, and then second half, we have to get a few more chances, and we can’t give away the goal.”

The Revs face the Philadelphia Union in their second home game of the season on Saturday, March 8th, at 7:30 PM in search of their first win of the season.
