As the snow gently blanketed New York City on Saturday night, the atmosphere inside Madison Square Garden was fiery as the Boston Celtics faced off against the New York Knicks. The Celtics showcased their dominance throughout the game, securing a commanding 131-104 victory.

Jayson Tatum was the standout star, pouring in an impressive 40 points while complementing his scoring with six defensive rebounds and four assists. His shooting performance was stellar; he converted 13 of 26 field goal attempts, showcased his sharpshooting skills by hitting seven of 14 from beyond the arc, and went seven of nine at the free-throw line.

Payton Pritchard also had a noteworthy evening, contributing 25 points along with four defensive rebounds and four assists. Pritchard was efficient from the floor, making nine of 13 field goal attempts, and his three-point shooting was particularly eye-catching, as he sank six of eight attempts. He chipped in one point from the free-throw line. 

Derrick White added 17 points to the scoreline, while Luke Kornet and Jaylen Brown contributed 14 and 12 points, respectively, further solidifying the Celtics’ offensive depth.

The Celtics’ largest lead ballooned to 35 points, at 127-92. They displayed remarkable teamwork, embarking on a scoring run where they netted nine consecutive points. Overall, Boston shot 54.1% from the field, hitting 46 of 85 attempts, including a well-rounded 19 of 39 from three-point territory and hitting 20 of 24 free throws. Their offensive strategy paid off, evidenced by their seven fast-break points, 16 second-chance points, and a robust 46 points scored in the paint.

On the Knicks’ side, Jalen Brunson emerged as the lead scorer, delivering 36 points. Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart contributed a combined total of 18 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns and Precious Achiuwa managed just 12 points collectively. The Knicks had 28 points from their bench, 42 points in the paint, four second-chance points, and 11 fast-break points, but ultimately fell short against the Celtics’ offensive onslaught.

Looking ahead, the Celtics are set to travel south for a Monday night showdown against the Miami Heat. Their most recent encounter on December 2, ended with the Celtics triumphing 108-89 at TD Garden, where Jaylen Brown led the team with a game-high 29 points, shooting 8-21 from the field, 4-11 from three-point range, and hitting 9 of 10 free throws. This victory marked the Celtics’ fourth consecutive win over the Heat in the regular season, extending their dominance to 11 wins in the last 13 matchups, including postseason play since May 23, 2023.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are preparing for a trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for a matchup with the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night. The last clash between the two teams on November 10 saw the Knicks fall to the Pacers, with a final score of 132-121.
