Man Who Shot and Killed Another Man, and Shot At A State Trooper Shoots Himself In Worcester

Traffic in both directions on interstate 190 in Worcester was backed up for hours Tuesday after a man who shot at police and attempted to carjack motorists shot himself.
But according to Worcester Police this didn’t start on the highway, it all started around 2:20 when Worcester Police received a report of a possible gunshot victim at an address on Heroult Rd.
When officers arrived, Worcester Police said, “They found a male victim with serious gunshot wounds. Despite receiving medical aid and being transported to the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased.”
A Massachusetts State Trooper just a short time later observed a suspicious male brandishing a firearm and Worcester Police say he fired a shot, and then despite being ordered to drop the weapon, he fled the scene.
About an hour later that same armed suspicious male was on I-190 northbound attempting to carjack motorists. Worcester Police said, “Officers pursued the armed individual on foot along the highway.”
Eventually because this male posed an immediate threat, Worcester Police said, “Both a Worcester Police officer and a Massachusetts State Trooper discharged their firearms. The armed individual then turned the firearm on himself and shot himself. He was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced deceased.”
Worcester Police say they believe that the armed suspicious male involved in the I-190 incident is the same suspect from the Heroult Rd incident.
Late Tuesday night Worcester Police via social media platforms requested the publics assistance asking for any video footage or information related to the incident on I-190 to contact Worcester Police Detective Bureau at (508) 799-8651.
Worcester Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office are investigating this incident.
The identity of both the victim and the armed suspicious male has not yet been released by Worcester Police, Massachusetts State Police or the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
