On an electrifying evening for high school football, South High in Worcester kicked off their season with a stunning 26-7 triumph over Leicester. Over in New Hampshire, Andover High School put on an impressive show, clinching a 40-17 victory against Pinkerton Academy in a highly anticipated showdown.
Meanwhile, North Quincy showcased their dominance on the field by securing a commanding 43-7 win over Cambridge. Standout performances included Mike Galligan’s exceptional quarterback skills, as he amassed 162 passing yards, scored a touchdown, and found the end zone twice on the ground. Additionally, Wirtz stood out with two impressive touchdown receptions, one from Galligan and another from the emerging sophomore talent, Ryan Sampson.
In an unexpected turn of events on Friday, Seekonk secured a convincing 30-0 win over Monomoy, Carver beat Wareham 39-0, Southbridge defeated Murdock 32-0, Grafton emerged victorious over Ashland with a 31-0 scoreline, and in his debut at Boston College High, coach Paul Zukauskas led his team to a 13-0 win against LA Salle in Providence.
Other notable high school football games that took place included Greater Lawrence’s 29-22 victory over Wakefield, and at Lexington High School in Massachusetts, Brookline claimed a hard-fought 20-14 win over Lexington.
