In Bridgeport, Connecticut, on August 1, Paul Sykes, age 54, of Bridgeport was sentenced to 20 years to serve.
Following a week-long trial in May, a six-person jury deliberated less than half a day before finding Sykes guilty of Possession of Child Pornography in the First Degree.
The State’s Attorney called six witnesses, including personnel from the Connecticut State Police, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), and the Internet Crimes Against Children Forensic Laboratory. Evidence at trial showed Sykes was in possession of hundreds of images of child pornography.
Sykes is already serving time in prison for Violation of Probation for similar charges, and Judge Earl B. Richards III ran the new sentence consecutive to that eight-year sentence.
