Worcester City Manager Eric D. Batista, late Thursday afternoon, swore in eight new Worcester Police Officers at City Hall in the Levi Lincoln Chamber.

Mayor Joseph M. Petty of Worcester joined City Manager Batista along Worcester City Councilors Kate Toomey, Jenny Pacillo, and Luis A. Ojeda. 

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. also welcomed the eight new officers, and later on X said, “Law enforcement works tirelessly to keep our communities safe,” and wished the new officers luck and safety in their new positions.

The eight new officers all have previously served with other police departments and are:

On Monday, January 8, City Manager Batista and Worcester Police Interim Chief Paul B. Saucier welcomed class 1-24 to the Worcester Police Academy. 

The class of 30 recruits will go through six months of training and is expected to graduate from the academy in July.

“I welcome our new officers and wish them the best as they start their careers with the Worcester Police Department,” said Interim Chief Saucier of the eight new Worcester Police Officers.
